Discover Arabia – Dammam’s Most Luxurious Hotel: The Sheraton

Are you looking for an oasis in the crowded Saudi city of Dammam? Do you want to stay in a great location for business or pleasure? Would you like to swim in an amazing pool in a beautiful garden setting? How about sampling a scrumptious breakfast buffet? All this and more is possible at Dammam’s most luxurious hotel: the 5 star Sheraton Hotel.

Situated in downtown Dammam, at the intersection of Prince Mohammed Bin Fahd Road and Al Ashriah Street, the Sheraton is perfectly located for the business district and numerous shopping malls. Just across Al Ashriah Street, and within easy walking distance, is Al Shatea Mall. A great place to pick up some on-trend clothing in Iconic store and enjoy some western fast food at Starbucks or KFC.

Why the Sheraton Dammam?

Across the years, we have stayed in myriad brand hotels in cities across Asia. With just two nights planned in the city, it seemed an ideal opportunity to experience Saudi hospitality in Dammam’s top hotel. In addition, its location near Al Shatea Mall and the corniche meant we could avoid unnecessary taxi rides. Most importantly, I really wanted to treat my wife Mirasol to a night of luxury for agreeing to move out to Saudi Arabia in the first place. It really is a challenging country for a woman, especially in the small, conservative city where we currently reside.

A Deluxe Room at the Sheraton, Dammam

The check-in could not have been any smoother. A super friendly male receptionist gestured us over to his desk, took our booking information and provided room keys within minutes of arrival. Also, he quickly agreed for a late check-out too. Although the lobby was full of wealthy, well-dressed people, the hotel still felt warm and congenial.

The deluxe room was super impressive. Carpeted floors, nicely appointed rooms, a huge window with stunning views all the way to the corniche. The spotless bathroom contained everything we needed for a two night stay: shaver kit, toothbrush and paste, soap, shampoo and shower gel.

Swimming Pool at the Sheraton

It didn’t take any time for Raf to request swimming pool time. He got bored of the panoramic city views and just wanted to swim. Soon after check-in, I grabbed our swimming costumes and we all headed for the outdoor pool. A friendly lifeguard greeted us and provided two large towels. A few other families utilized the kid’s pool, but the main pool was empty for nearly two hours. Due to the imposition of Saudi rules within the hotel’s grounds, Mirasol relaxed poolside and was not allowed to join us in the pool.

The pool area delivered big time. The fairly large pool and gorgeous grounds provided a luxurious escape from the city outside. While the pool was a bit cold, it was easily warm enough to swim for an hour or two. The ample seating and sun loungers made it possible for Mirasol to enjoy herself without getting wet. In short, it was an incredible spot to relax away the afternoon.
Breakfast at the Sheraton Dammam

It was really exciting going down to the buffet breakfast. The massive variety of breakfast options and quiet atmosphere allowed us all to take our time and make the most of the luxury. While the waiter was attentive, he didn’t hang over us. He just made sure Mirasol’s coffee was topped up, but generally left us to our own devices. This enabled me to embarrassingly return to the buffet four times. Meanwhile, Rafael was satisfied with a small plate of fruit and one pancake.

Breakfast is optional at Sheraton Dammam, but the rate reduction is not worth it considering the quality of food. Whatever you want, from healthy fruit and salad to meat and Arabic fare, and eggs anyway you like, they’ve got it covered at the Sheraton.

Sheraton Dammam Wrap-up 

In conclusion, we loved Sheraton Dammam. Their well appointed rooms have absolutely everything you need and more. The swimming pool garden setting gives the property a true oasis feel despite the busy streets nearby. The panoramic views from the rooms are quite spectacular. While the nightly rate is quite expensive, what do you expect from the most luxurious hotel in Dammam. In short, it is an ideal place for a short stay for singles, couples and families.

– Dammam’s Airport is 48km away. Expect to pay at least 200 SAR for a metered taxi to the airport. Allow sufficient time to reach the airport (30 minutes early morning, 90 minutes during rush hour) to make your trip stress-free.
